MIRAGE

Using photography as a medium seems to challenge the idea of abstraction due to the fact of it being a representation of a real moment in time. Therefore, the audience takes the information they receive as part of their reality – something legitimate, something that exists in the real world. They place their trust in the artist’s hand that what they perceive in a photograph is anything but deceptive. Thus, I challenge myself to abstract photographs to a point where they achieve a sense of disengagement from their original form and morph the contents within the photo away from their authentic existence.
